Women of Faith in the Bible
The Bible is filled with stories of remarkable women who demonstrated unwavering faith and courage in the face of adversity. These women serve as powerful examples for believers today.
A Few Examples of Women of Faith in the Bible:
- Esther: Esther showed great courage by approaching the king on behalf of her people, risking her life to save them.
- Ruth: Ruth's loyalty and faithfulness to her mother-in-law Naomi led her to a place of honor in the lineage of Jesus.
- Mary: Mary, the mother of Jesus, demonstrated incredible faith and humility when she accepted God's plan for her life.
Attributes of Women of Faith
Women of faith are characterized by their trust in God, their courage in the face of challenges, and their unwavering commitment to following His will. They serve as role models for both men and women in the Christian faith. Women that stand strong in their faith can create a massive amount of change in their lives as well as in this world.
For instance, numerous women have married men who didn't believe in the Lord. Yet, witnessing their wife's unwavering dedication, studying His word, and experiencing her loving actions have brought many men to the Lord. A woman of faith desires to express her love for the Lord through her actions, words, and service to all His children. She knows that He loves her even though she is imperfect and that alone gives her the desire to seek him daily through His word.
Encouragement for Women
For women seeking to deepen their faith, the Bible offers encouragement and guidance. Proverbs 31:25 says, 'She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she can laugh at the days to come.' This verse reminds women to trust in God's plan and to approach life with courage and grace, without fearing the future. Any time you're seeking encouragement, Proverbs 31 is the place to go. Regardless of what you're facing, Proverbs 31 is a woman of faith's go-to chapter!
How to become a Woman Of Faith?
Seek Him in all your daily activities from morning till night. Many aspects are involved, and it might feel overwhelming, but it's simpler than you would think. Following these steps to become a woman of faith will bring you immense peace from God that you'll wish you started earlier.
1. The most important is spending time with him every day.
Matthew 6:33 “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
Remember to spend time with God every day. It will help you grow and mature in your faith. Studying the Bible, praying, and doing things to glorify God will make you a stronger and more courageous woman of God. Trust Him in all seasons, without fail. If doubt creeps in, use your greatest weapon: His word!
2. Spending time with him by reading your Bible & meditating on it.
This is mentioned in Psalm 1:1-2 which reads “Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night.”
It’s mentioned again in Psalm 119:97-102 which reads “Oh, how I love your law! I meditate on it all day long. Your commands are always with me and make me wiser than my enemies. I have more insight than all my teachers, for I meditate on your statutes. I have more understanding than the elders, for I obey your precepts. I have kept my feet from every evil path so that I might obey your word. I have not departed from your laws, for you yourself have taught me.”
Meditating on His word involves reading it, studying it, praying over what you read, and asking Him to reveal the message He wants you to receive. Keep the verse in your mind or write it down to carry with you throughout the day. As you go about your day, communicate with Him. Whether you're driving or alone, speak the verse and pray, and He will open your eyes to what you need to see.
God's words bring life, encouragement, and comfort. It's important for us to know what the Bible says, not just by listening to sermons, but by opening our Bibles. As a woman of faith, it is vital to read and meditate upon God's word. By praying before and after reading and meditating on His words, God will speak to us through them.
3. Pray, pray, pray! Then pray some more.
Talking to God all day is necessary. It's important to pray for answers to small and big decisions, as well as when in doubt or when something feels off. It's also important to pray when you catch yourself thinking in a way that doesn't align with your values. He knows our thoughts before we think them, so talk to him about it. Prayer is nothing more than having a conversation with your best friend. So talk to him like a friend.
If, for example, I have a negative thought, I say, "Lord, I don't know why I'm even thinking this, but I need your help because I know it's wrong, yet my mind keeps going there." I often tell Him, "I don't know what I'm doing, so I need you to guide my behavior back on the right track because I can't do it on my own, especially when these people are driving me crazy." I'm not joking, I actually talk to Him this way. Also, remember to express gratitude in all circumstances, acknowledging that God is present and working, even during uncertain times.
When you talk to God throughout the day, whether out loud or in your head, you will soon realize that He is your best friend. During tough times, I know it can be hard to feel or hear Him, and that's when we need to seek Him even more because Satan is at work, making everything noisy so you feel like you can't hear or feel God.
God is always there for you, so talk to Him and share your thoughts and feelings with Him. He already knows everything that's on your mind, so you can be honest with Him!
5. Live in a way that pleases the Lord (even when no one is watching!)
1 Thessalonians 4:1 tells us to live in a way that pleases the Lord. It reads “As for other matters, brothers and sisters, we instructed you how to live in order to please God, as in fact you are living. Now we ask you and urge you in the Lord Jesus to do this more and more.”
I believe that often when we hear this verse, our minds naturally think of big things like going to church, serving Him, and other significant acts.
However, I believe that even the smallest things matter. For example, when you're at Walmart and you're done loading your car, remember to return your shopping cart to where it belongs. If you reach the parking lot and realize you forgot to scan items under your basket while loading the car, go back and pay for them. When you're out and about and find a lost wallet, phone, or money, take it to the nearest store and inform them that it was found.
Always consider the perspective of the person on the other end. If you lost something, you would hope for a good samaritan to return it. Be that good samaritan. No matter if it's big or small, make it a habit to ask yourself if God would be pleased with your actions. This will often immediately tell you the right thing to do.
Spending time with God, immersing yourself in His word, and having conversations with Him throughout the day, while also striving to live in a way that aligns with His will, will lead you to grow into a woman of great faith.
